"Syrian air defenses brought down a hostile U.S. surveillance plane in northern Latakia," SANA said in a bulletin, without giving further details.

If true, the news is ironic.
On Monday, US Secretary of State said that the US is willing to negotiate with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. And American aircraft is operating in Syrian skies to bomb ISIS, and have said that they will not target Assad troops and allies.
That said, Latakia, located on the Medittarnean coast, is firmly in regime control.
